About Us

Parent comment, July 2017 “We couldn’t have asked for more from a pre-school. Holmer Green Methodist Pre-School has provided a fantastic start to our daughters education and has set her on the right path for a bright future, ensuring she has the confidence and social skills for a smooth transition to primary school. She is sad to be leaving (she asks daily if it’s a school day) but looking forward to seeing everyone when she picks up her younger sister.”

We have both been so impressed with the opportunities she has been given to extend her knowledge and social skills.  She comes home happy every day and excited to return and that is all we could have wished for.  We know our daughter will miss you all dearly along with the friends she has made.”

“We are so glad we chose your preschool over the others we considered and we look forward to sending her brother to you.”

“Keep up the good work as it clearly shows what a dedicated team you are.”

(Mum of 4 year old moving up to Primary School).

Under the umbrella of Holmer Green MethodistChurch, the pre-school (established in 1968) is a community-based setting situated in the church rooms on the edge of the village. It is a short distance from the village pond and local shops and within walking distance of the village schools. The pre-school has use of three large activity rooms, a new outdoor activity room and a large, enclosed rear garden with a new, all-weather play surface.

The pre-school is registered with OFSTED and Buckinghamshire Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership (EYDCP), working to the Statutory Framework of The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).  OFSTED inspect the pre-school approximately every 3 years and we have regular visits from the EYFS Team and the Buckinghamshire Learning Trust.  The pre-school is also a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance (PSLA).

Holmer Green Methodist pre-school is registered to provide care for 36 children from 2 to 5 years old.  The pre-school usually limits the number of children to a maximum of 30 per session.  Sessions are available 5 mornings a week during term time, running from 9.15 am to 12.15 pm.   We also offer 2 afternoon sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, running from 12.15 pm to 3.15 pm.

The sessions are led by the Supervisor or Deputy Supervisor and all of the staff are qualified in Early Years to Level 2 or above. We work on a ratio of 1 adult to 6 children for children aged 3+ and 1 adult to 4 children for children under 3, ensuring that the required number of qualified staff are in attendance each day.  All staff, emergency helpers and regular volunteers are DBS checked as required by Ofsted and all regular staff attend First Aid and Child Safeguarding courses.
