About our Pre-School

cartoon

Under the umbrella of Holmer Green Methodist Church the pre-school, established in 1968, is a community based setting situated in the church rooms on the edge of the village. It is a short distance from the village pond and local shops and within walking distance of the village schools. The pre-school has use of three large rooms, a waiting area and an enclosed garden.

We welcome children from the village and surrounding areas. Our pre-school believes that no child, individual or family should be excluded from the pre-school's activities on the grounds of age, gender, sexuality, class, family status, means, disability, colour, ethnic origin, culture, religion or belief.

Holmer Green Methodist pre-school is registered to provide sessional care for 36 children from rising 3 to rising 5 year olds. The pre-school limits the number of children to a maximum of 30 per session. Sessions are available five mornings a week during term time and up to 2 afternoons, dependent on viability.

Morning sessions run from 9:15am to 12 noon.
Afternoon sessions run from 1:00pm to 3:30pm

For each session here are usually 6 staff in attendance; 5 pre-school practitioners plus the Supervisor or Deputy Supervisor. At least half our staff are qualified to level two or above in childcare and we work on a ratio of 1 adult to 6 children for children aged 3+ and 1 adult to 4 children for children under 3. Staff cover for each other in the event of sickness and we also have emergency helpers. All staff and emergency helpers are CRB checked as required by Ofsted and all regular staff attend First Aid and Child Protection courses.

The aim of this pre-school is to provide a secure, happy, caring and stimulating environment in which children have the opportunity to learn new skills and develop confidence and self esteem in preparation for school.

We aim to meet the child's needs within the group setting and provide through play, as well as structured activities, a full and varied/broad and balanced curriculum through a team of experienced and qualified staff members working with parents. We aim to promote a friendly and good working relationship between the parents/carers and the pre-school.
